Growing up in Charleston, SC, a city known for its theater and arts festivals, gave Maurio the opportunity to begin performing. Starting out at the age of eleven with such groups as the Charleston Youth Company and Wings.Maurio began his professional career in 1998 with Paramount parks. Performing at Kings Dominion and Carowinds, while earning a broadcast journalism degree at the University of South Carolina. After college he worked for two Television news stations, until the performing bug nagged him. Shortly after, he began auditioning and accepted a national touring contract with Theater 4 in Richmond, Virginia as the lead in “Buffalo Soldier.” Soon to be followed by Jungle Book.” While touring thecountry, Maurio discovered his passion for exploring new cities. During his off time he would spend most of his day wondering around, looking for exciting restaurants, shopping areas and nightlife. To this day most of Maurio’s friends call him to find outwhere to hangout while vacationing within the U.S.In 2004, Maurio moved to New York City to take on the "Great White Way". After a year of several extra roles and one off off Broadway show, he joined the west coast touring cast of “Junie B Jones”. Not only did this give him the opportunity to join the actors equity union, he would be able to discover the west coast.Surviving in the city was a big challenge for Maurio, but he never missed a beat. Discovering free events throughout the city, ways to catch Broadway shows and how to hangout on a budget became a way of life. <br />
