Look closely at the passion in thier eyes to succeed, but also the fear of standing and falling. They rise, adjust thier position and take one small step. As one step leads to another, thier confidence builds and eventually, two steps are made. With on-looking family and friends, the child feels confident and continues to walk, but just as things seem perfect, the child usually falls. Still standing near, the child's family cheers and applauds, convincing them to get back up and try again.Stepping out and marching to our own beat is often one of the most difficult things for us as human beings to accomplish. We often have the passion to succeed, but it's the fear of failure that keeps us from moving forward. In this roller coaster economy, it is now time for us to learn ways to create our own. Sitting back and waiting for a major corporation to establish you as a business person may not happen. So why not create your own corporation.I have two career goals that I would like to accomplish in my lifetime. The first would be to perform in a Broadway show, and the second is to anchor/host a major TV show. I've been fighting for both goals for over ten years now. Since I came into the real world in 2001 it's been super hard to obtain a job in either of these fields. I also realize that they are both very popular and competitive careers. The economy has also taken its toll on these careers. Journalism companies and Broadway shows have learned to downsize. TV stations may only hire one anchor/ reporter for several of the networks shows, and Broadway casts have gotten much smaller. With that being said, I still want to pursue these goals. So I ask myself, what is the real reason I want to work for a TV station and why do I want to perform in a Broadway show. On the one hand, the TV job would allow me to practice journalism and inspire people through my love of story telling. On the other hand, I want to perform on Broadway to share my passion for singing and dancing. Suddenly, it all became clear; why not create a website to share all my writings and videos. And If I want to perform, create my own show, and perform it.As Survivors, we have to be ready and willing to create our own success. Stop waiting for others to validate us, by offering us a small piece of the pie. Now of course it is not going to be easy, but it's just like a child's first steps. Set your mind to succeed and aim for one small step. As you begin to make things happen keep in mind that it all may all fall apart. But just like the baby listen to your support group and get back up.
